I have chosen from above these dog treats with fun and delicious shine! What you do is combine peanut butter, coconut oil and turmeric in a small bowl until you have a thin glaze. Transfer the glaze to an airtight baggie, snip a small corner of the baggie, then drizzle the glaze in a zig-zag pattern over the cold peanut butter treats.
You will notice that the glass will set in about 30 minutes. It will not be hard, but dry.

This step is 100% optional! It’s fun and exciting and very possible but not necessary. If you want to keep this dog treat recipe very simple, just skip the glaze.
Keep in mind that these are not high end dog treats that will last a few months in your pantry, so you need to store them well.

*Note: This dog treat is firm but soft (like peanut butter cookies). I want to create a treat that all dogs can enjoy – even older dogs who may have more sensitive teeth. If your dog likes a super crunchy treat, serve Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Treats straight from the freezer because they’ll have more of a dog biscuit texture (nice and crunchy!).
Once the dog treats are cool and smooth, store them in an airtight container and store in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Almond flour is a gluten-free flour that contains vitamin E, phosphorus, magnesium, protein, healthy fats and dietary fiber and is considered safe for dogs. Chosen in small amounts in your dog’s diet, cinnamon can be safe and even beneficial due to the nutritional value it contains. The same is said for turmeric. The first thing is not to overdo it!
Extra virgin coconut oil has become a popular choice for humans because it is a healthier alternative to more processed and trans fats, and the same goes for dogs. Coconut oil helps dogs lose weight, gives them more energy and removes dry skin. Bonus: It will help improve your dog’s smell!”

And…if you’re hoping for an easy option that doesn’t require cooking sweet potatoes…you can use canned pumpkin!
Dogs love pumpkin and it is very healthy for them as long as the pumpkin you use is not sweet! Make sure you don’t use pumpkin pie filling that often contains flavorings and additives. A can of pumpkin pie should have pumpkin as the only ingredient listed.
Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Cookies
Likewise, the peanut butter you use should have peanuts as the only ingredient listed. Make sure there are no additives that could harm your dog.
And if you’re wondering how to make oat flour…don’t worry! Just go the usual speed or rolled oats in your pantry to a good meal and you have oat flour!
I decided to use whole oat flour for this recipe because many dogs are sensitive to wheat. But… if your dog is not sensitive to wheat, feel free to make this recipe with whole wheat flour and no ground oats!
Ingredient Frozen Dog Treats You Can Make At Home
If you are wondering how to make sweet potatoes for this recipe, you can peel and cook cubed sweet potatoes. Then mash like mashed potatoes. You can even freeze sweet potatoes in silicone muffin liners for easy portions!
Or … bake whole sweet potatoes at 425 degrees F for 40-55 minutes until the sweet potatoes are tender and the skins come off. Once the potatoes are cool, peel off the skin and freeze all the sweet potatoes! When you need it, take it out of the freezer and give it a quick microwave. Now you are ready to make a homemade dog treat recipe in a flash!
Stir to combine using a spoon or your hands. I find it easier to mix this dough with my hands because it is a little sticky.

If for some reason the dough seems a little dry to you, just add water or unsweetened oat milk. Or… a little more peanut butter or sweet potato. And if the dough seems sticky, a dash more flour will help make it rise.
Although this dough is a little sticky, I found it very easy to roll out with my rolling pin on a silicone mat. Roll out the dough between ¼″ and ½″ thick. Since there is no rising agent in this dough, the thickness of the biscuits at this stage will be the thickness of the cooked biscuits.
Place a piece of wax paper over the dough and using your rolling pin on the wax paper will prevent the dough from sticking to your rolling pin.

Don’t be afraid to work on the dough. You can also raise it and add some cold ingredients. Water, unsweetened oat milk or peanut butter or a little watermelon will work. Then, turn the dough again.
Or… leave these treats for 15 minutes for a crunchier treat that your dog will take a little longer to enjoy!
