Easy Reindeer Cookies (from Cake Mix!)

Using the bottom of a glass, gently press cookie dough balls to about ¼ thickness.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, being careful not to overbake. If you don’t have a kitchen timer, I highly recommend one!

Let cookies cool on cooling racks, or set aside, for about 10 minutes. Once cool, frost well and sprinkle to your heart’s content!

Sometimes it’s easy to skip a recipe when it’s printed in front of you. Who wants to swipe the screen on their phone or tablet when their hands slip? So I want to offer this option too!

Even better, they’re made with just five ingredients and require little prep (the only thing you need to measure is the cinnamon!), so even novice bakers can whip out a perfect batch from the oven in 25 minutes.

Vanilla cake with sprinkles people? Do not worry. This recipe works well with any type of cake mix. If the cinnamon flavor matches the main flavor of your cookie, omit it. (We’ll skip this for fruit mixes like lemon and strawberry, for example). Instead of rainbow sprinkles, feel free to play with mix-ins like chocolate chips, mini-M&Ms, nuts, and even crushed pretzels or potato chips.

Ignore the instructions on the back of the box. For cookies with a snickerdoodle-like texture, add 1 stick of melted butter and two large eggs to the cake mix. The dough is scoopable and can easily be dropped onto your parchment lined baking sheet with a cookie (or small ice cream) scoop. If you prefer a crispier cookie, just add one egg to the mixing bowl. This firm dough cooks well when scooped and rolled into balls.

If the dough seems too loose after mixing all the ingredients, let it rest for five to 10 minutes before scooping. (As the butter cools, the batter will harden and the liquids will coat the cake mixture.)

Clever Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies Recipes

This recipe is so versatile, I chose to add white chocolate drops (or 100’s and 1000’s) of sprinkles for flavor and color, but any additions would be lovely!

Today I used a countdown vanilla cake mix, it weighs 450g and you vary the amounts of the other ingredients, so anything smaller or larger you may want to change the liquid ingredients.

As I mentioned above, you want a nice cake mix to start with, but I still add my favorite vanilla extract to boost the flavor. And adding more ingredients will add flavor.

Easy Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies

Of the 3 box mix cookies I made this weekend, this was the most popular with my taste testers!

To make these cookies, combine the cake mix and white chocolate chips until combined, then add the eggs to a small bowl, whisk, then add the oil and vanilla and beat again.

Pour these wet ingredients into the dry and mix well, then pour in the sprinkles, mix well until combined, you don’t want the sprinkles to mix the colors in the mixture.

Then take a tablespoon-sized amount of the mixture (it’s a sticky mixture, right) and place it evenly on a tray in the form of a loose ball. Press them a little.

Bake them until very lightly golden brown – about 11-14 minutes, depending on your oven. They are pale and soft, but they will be cold hardy.
